Be mindful in how your spending your energy. See it as something precious and make it an expression of how you feel. We can easily take our world for granted. There is a beauty that can be found in the ordinary day to day. The day to day normality and routine become special when we perform our duties with total involvement and with love. There is a richness in the quality of our normal life that is much greater than any financial reward that we might be striving for.
The practice of yoga can be difficult life often can be difficult. In the yoga Sutras, Patangali lists fear and doubt as obstacles in our path. We often doubt our ability to achieve or we fear the chance of failure. These feelings limit us and prevent movement be it in a yoga asana or in general day to day life. These obstacles can be eliminated when the mind is brought to a single focus (Chapter 1 vs:32 and v:33). The mind becomes clear and serene when the qualities of the heart are cultivated.
Let the beat of your heart be the rhythm to your life.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Reinforce today who you are.
What makes you the person that you are - your uniqueness.
Be a creative person - be different because we are all different.
We live under a blanket of bland sameness. All of us living the same way, wearing the same clothes, reading the same books, looking at the same internet sites. talking about the same stresses.
DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT TODAY

Have a look at this man. Bernie Prior says he is “realised” this seems to mean he has “got” that we humans are in fact not separate but actually all one. Check him out http://www.bernieprior.org Full of inspiring articles.

POD CASTING OF CLASSES
The idea behind the pod cast is to offer the opportunity to return to a class or catch up with a session that you may have missed. Also to assist in a self practice at home or to take on holiday.
This class is from a general class for students who are familiar with fluid yoga postures done in sequence. It is not for beginners, but those with general a good level fitness and an open attitude will be ok.
The recordings are spontaneous and have personal reference’s either to students, adjustments or comments on the energy within the group.
Because the recordings are live the sound quality will vary. All background music that you may hear is compilation of music from Cds of Shiva Rea. These can be purchased through my web site.
Start by getting comfortable in savasana and follow the class.
Always practice yoga on an empty stomach.
This is an initial try out. Please feed back comments
If you have problems downloading the podcast using Internet Explorer for Windows try using right-click and then Save Target As from the pop-up menu. See also podcast help

I am always amazed by what the universe provides. In a forced day off waiting for the boiler man to come and fix my heating I came across this article. Sometimes we find ourselves in a muddle, a muddle being a place of uncertainty. I like what the author says about people making choices made out of fear. Read on if your in a muddle.

Many students have been asking about the problems associated with the pelvic floor, no need to go into detail on the site as I recommended a book to students which is on my site in the books section. Having found out about downloading this book for free my previous link no longer has this facility. I have found another site though where you can get the book much cheaper than on amazon.

Gypsy Masala - a story of dreams is one of my favorite quick reads. It’s a take on many hindu stories and follows the path of a family in transit. Anyone who has been on a retreat with me will be familiar with Chapter 12 which I often read out to groups in the closing meditation. It teaches us about hopes and dreams and guides us in following out hearts desire.

During a recent yoga session a student complains of a burning sensation in her leg and asks if this is normal? After defining the sense of burning and the reason why she felt pain. I ask the class “has anyone heard of the term burning with desire, burning with passion”. Other phrases like feel the heat, and go for the burn come to mind. When we are in need of comfort heat is soothing, often when we have pain heat is applied. We also apply pressure to the body when we need to heal for example to rub the skin after a fall.
When we breath we bring oxygen into the body and that intensifies the heat and we begin to burn brightly from within. We become radiant and glowing. these words are often associated with what we define as beauty. We all have an inner light that can shine through. Continue Reading »

Welcome to my site and many thanks to Arup for designing it and having it operational whist it wasn’t complete. Makes me think of karma, action in non action. That in life sometimes we think nothing is happening when in fact we are constantly moving and changing. The wise yogi knows when to act and when not to act.
I want to use the site to share with my students the stories and developments that come from classes. It’s a place where you can find the references to any quotes that I might use and or add your own feed back. Also on the site is much of the music that I use in classes and books that have inspired me.
I will also be pod casting yoga sessions for you to download if you miss any sessions.
Now we are all returning to regular practice after the summer or rather August break. Some of us were in Italy which was as beautiful as last year. Lots of great food and inspired company. Time to reflect and take stock of life. Many thanks to Santi for leading us through a discussion of truth and reality. Both thought provoking and very funny at times when we look at what we see as our own truth and others perception of that truth. The words of Krishnamurti will always give me hope.
I am trying to organise 2 separate weeks in Italy next year. It would be nice to go in the spring time, but for now I can confirm that I am booking 7 days from the 16th August, Prices to confirm but if you want to return put that date in your book.
More details will be on the site soon.

This is Santi’s recipie or museli for those of us who wish to keep a flavour of Italy with us and for those who just wish to have a delicious home made museli.
- 1.5 kilos oat flakes
- 0.5 kilos sunflower seeds
- 300 grams each of sesame seeds and flax seeds
- 400 grams raisins
- 300 grams cane sugar
Use a large steel pan. Heat flakes with sunflower seeds until really hot stirring all the time. Then add the other seeds and the raisins and heat for a few minutes to allow the oils to run out (you sort of hear the flax popping!). Lastly add the sugar and stir very vigorously as it tends to stick. When it has dissolved into the mixture pour into a cold dish and allow to cool and then store in air tight containers.
